Graduate Level Internships
The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey offers advanced career development internships specifically for graduate-level applicants. Selected applicants work as integral junior staff members with The Shakespeare Theatre, gaining invaluable internship and resumé credits, and professional work experience.

The Casting Assistant works directly with the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director in casting all Main Stage, Outdoor Stage, and touring productions for The Shakespeare Theatre. Duties include reviewing headshot and resumé submissions, maintenance of casting files, acting as a liaison with artists' agents and performers, scheduling auditions, and other select administrative duties. A graduate degree or two years professional theatre experience is preferred. Though there is no stipend for this internship, housing is may be available. Adjunct job opportunities are also available in the area.

Graduate Designer for the Next Stage Ensemble
BEGINS IN APRIL 2013 (application deadline March 8th, 2013)
The Graduate Designer is responsible for the creation and execution of costume and/or scenic designs for The Shakespeare Theatre's summer touring company, the Next Stage Ensemble. This twelve-member company rehearses and tours two abridged classic works throughout New Jersey between June and August. The Graduate Designer has access to most of the Shakespeare Theatre's extensive stock and is given limited personnel support through the execution portion of the design process. Following the completion of the designs, the Graduate Designer contines work through the summer training program in an appropriate production department (costumes, scenic construction, scenic art or properties). Housing and/or stipend may be available based on the level of the applicant's experience.
Applicants should submit the basic SPTP internship application, but clearly indicate on the form that they are applying for the graduate position, include a digital portfolio or printed portfolio samples, and indicate whether they are interested in scenic design, costume design, or both.
