Artistic Staff

 

JOE DISCHER (Associate Artistic Director ) directed Cymbeline on the Main Stage last year, as well as Julius Caesar for The Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis, which broke attendance records, playing to 50,000 in three weeks. He is in his seventeenth season with The Shakespeare Theatre, where he oversees casting for The Theatre's various acting companies and aids in training program recruitment, outreach and education programs. Company directing credits: Life of Galileo, Of Mice and Men (Best Revival of the Year, The Star-Ledger), A Midwinter Night's Dream, The Fantasticks (Best Director of a Musical, The Star-Ledger) and Twelfth Night on the Main Stage; That Scoundrel Scapin on the Outdoor Stage; Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare LIVE!; Brecht's The Visions of Simone Machard for the Next Stage Ensemble; and Travels With My Aunt, Much Ado About Nothing and The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged) for the Other Stage. Mr. Discher is a member of the Actors' Equity Association and is a winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters acting competition ( New Jersey chapter). Company acting credits: Amiens in As You Like It and Valentine in Twelfth Night on the Main Stage and Pan in The Grouch on the Outdoor Stage. He sings professionally at St. Cassian Church in Upper Montclair and previously sang for four years at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. He is a proud alumnus of Drew University and Delbarton School. This season, he will direct The Play's the Thing.

 

KATE IVINS (Assistant to the Artistic Director) is in her second season with The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, having served as an Artistic/Casting Intern in 2006. She recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in theatre and minors in English and history. She held various roles on and off stage during her tenure at Richmond, and was President of Alpha Psi Omega, the dramatic honorary fraternity. Kate has also studied at the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York and the University of Cape Town in South Africa .
