One of the most imaginative stagings I've seen; fine productions values, especially the costumes. "Ariel" was inspired!

Last night we were delighted by an excellent presentation of Shakespeare's The Tempest! The set design was outstanding and imaginative. The costumes, especially the spirits, and in particular Ariel presentation were fantastic! Performances of John Curless as Prospero, Michael Stewart Allen as Ariel and Gregory Derelian as Caliban created a performance that was truely outstanding! We have seen performances in Stratford with the Shakespeare Company and you performance was every bit and professional and wonderfully entertaining! It was our first time at a Shakespeare Festival performance and we guarantee it shall not be the last! Keep up the wonderful work.

From its costumes to its cast, The Tempest is a powerful production. John Curless, as Prospero, projects anger as well as forgiveness effortlessly. Allyn Burrows' Antonio just needs a stare to project his feelings. The real treat is the performance by Michael Stewart Allen who never gets to use the main tool of an actor -- his face. Without expression, covered in spandex, he is still able to convey the spirit of Ariel. Kudos to the director and costume designer who helped make that possible. Jennifer Ikeda is so believable as the innnocent Miranda and Clark Carmichael equally as good as her suitor. Gregoray Derlian gives depth and soul to the monster Caliban. Jeffrey Bender, a festival favorite, plays the jester as only Jeffrey Bender could. When teamed with Dave Shalansky, the end result is hysterical.
