ELIZABETH SHEPHERD (Mrs. Higgins) is in her first season with The Shakespeare
Theatre. Her distinguished theatre career has encompassed London's West End, Broadway,
off-Broadway, and regional theatres throughout North America, including Arena
Stage in Washington, D.C., Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, Cleveland Playhouse,
and Stratford and Shaw Festivals in Ontario. Favorite roles include Miss Havisham
in GREAT EXPECTATIONS at Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia last season, Blanche
Dubois in A SREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, Queen Katherine in HENRY VIII, Fraulein Schneider
in CABARET, Eliza Doolittle in PYGMALION, Arkadina in THE SEAGULL, Volumnia in
CORIOLANUS, Judith Anderson in THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLE, Sweetie in TOO TRUE TO BE
GOOD and Elsa Tabori in MY MOTHER'S COURAGE. She is credited with more than 500
television appearances which include B.B.C. Masterpiece Theatre, Hermione in THE
WINTER'S TALE on P.B.S. (Emmy nomination), Mrs. Patrick Campbell in THE FIRST
NIGHT OF PYGMALION (C.B.C. Prix Anik Award), POLTERGEIST: THE LEGACY, SPENSER
FOR HIRE and, most recently, ALL MY CHILDREN. Films include THE TOMB OF LIGEIA,
DAMIEN: OMEN 2 and CRIMINAL LAW. Ms. Shepherd is active with the Free Burma coalition.
