A perfect evening of theater. The book is lively and funny,
the music ranges from sweet ballads to outright show stoppers,
and the cast is outstanding. An extended run, a second venue,
and a cast recording are all in order for this excellent production.

My friend and I were lucky enough to usher for the opening
night gala of Illyria on December 4th, and we both agree that
it's the best performance the STNJ has ever given!! And, considering
the fantastic plays they're had in the past--Hay Fever, Of
Mice and Men, That Scoundrel Scapin, "Very Old Man...",
and Pygmalian, to name a few--this is very high praise indeed.
The play is absolutely wonderful, with the most funny, hummable
songs you'll ever hear in any musical, a cast lacking a single
weak link, and genuinely brilliant directing. I'm seeing again
on it's closing night, and look forward to it greatly--will
"Illyria" come back next year, PLEASE!????

My wife and I took our two young sons (10 & 7) to the
Saturday matinee. We all loved it! The cast is very strong,
it's funny, with some memorable songs. My seven year old has
been singing "Cakes & Ale" ever since! Congratulations
to everyone involved.

I cannot remember a theatrical event I have enjoyed as much.
It is laugh-out-loud funny and cleverly written, and the music
is so good that the audience left the theater singing "Cakes
and Ale" -- the song with which the play closes. It's
absolutely worth the time; in fact, I am hoping to go back
to see it again before it closes on the 26th.

"Bid the bitterness
good-bye, but now your mouth is dry.... Take a tiny swig of
ale...." Wha? Oh sorry. Illyria was hysterically
fantastic, containing comedies of may kinds. I could not laugh
enough when they sang "Cakes and Ale" repeatedly...
Shall we? "Take a tiny swig of ale...."

Fantastic!! I can't
remember when I had such fun at a theatre. The cast was incredible
-- the music was rollicking. I loved it! Thank you Bonnie,
Joe and Paul for this amazing season. Thank you to the crew
and all the actors for sharing your talent and bringing such
joy to the audience. "Love's Labour"s Lost"
and "Hay Fever" were delightful . "Richard
II" was mesmeriziing. "Of Mice and Men" broke
my heart and I am still talking about Robert Cuccioli's and
Laila Robbins's extraordinary performances in "Macbeth."
To end the season with such a gem like "Illyria"
was perfection. Thank you all!!

What Fun!! A dreary, rainy night turned bright, festive and
downright enchanting. My husband and I loved Illyria.
