Ride
with the moon to a town lost in time and experience
a magical and joyous myth. A mysterious, winged creature falls
to earth and is discovered by two children, who are certain,
deep in their hearts, that he is a wounded angel. This colorful
tale engages the imagination and delights the senses with
its archetypal imagery, wondrous phenomena and festive, live
music.

Pulitzer
Prize-winner Nilo Cruz, author of the Tony
Award-nominated play ANNA IN THE TROPICS, has created a magical
stage adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez's
short story "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings."
Márquez, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in
1982, is the author of ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE and LOVE
IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA, among many other major works.
A VERY OLD MAN WITH ENORMOUS
WINGS is The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's third annual
offering at the Outdoor Stage
- a glorious, open-air Greek amphitheatre nestled into a hillside
on the College of Saint Elizabeth campus at Convent Station
(just a stone's throw from our Main Stage in Madison). In
the tradition of THE GROUCH and THAT SCOUNDREL SCAPIN, we
offer a play that will enchant young and old alike, in a setting
that's perfect for a family picnic, romantic date, or fun
get-together with friends. (Click here
for the inclement weather policy.)
