The 2007 Season

The 2007 Season begins with Henry V , William Shakespeare's epic story of the ascension of a great and powerful leader . Featuring David Conrad (CBS-TV's Ghost Whisperer ) in the title role, Henry V begins performances on May 1 and continues through May 27 .

Next is the hilarious The Play's the Thing by Ferenc Molnar. This farce-within-a-farce about love and the art of theatre runs June 5 through July 1 .

Shakespeare's compelling tale of polar opposites, Measure for Measure , follows, running July 10 through July 29.

The season continues with one of the worlds most celebrated absurdist comedies, The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco ( The Rhinoceros ). The comedy runs August 7 through August 26 .

The fall portion of the season begins with William Saroyan's Pulitzer Prize-winning The Time of Your Life . Rarely seen on any stage and featuring a cast of more than 20 colorful and eccentric characters, this American classic runs September 4 through September 30 .

The great legacy left by Henry V crumbles in Blood & Roses: Shakespeare's Henry VI . Adapted from Henry VI Parts 1, 2 and 3 by Brian B. Crowe, this highly charged and thrilling evening of political theatre continues the 60-year history begun earlier in the season with Henry V. Blood & Roses runs October 9 through November 11.

The Main Stage Season concludes with The Blue Bird freely adapted from Maurice Maeterlinck's classic tale by Bonnie J. Monte. First produced at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in 2000, this symbolic tale of two children's search for the blue bird of happiness is a magical allegory for children and adults. A perfect holiday outing for family theatergoers, The Blue Bird runs from November 27 through December 31.

The Outdoor Stage

In addition to the seven Main Stage productions, The Shakespeare Theatre 2007 Season once again features Shakespeare under-the-stars at the Outdoor Stage – The Greek Theatre on the campus of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station. Audiences of all ages can picnic as they enjoy a 90-minute version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream from June 19 through July 22.
