The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s acclaimed educational touring company, Shakespeare LIVE!, returns to the Main Stage in March with two high-speed, high-energy productions of Shakespeare’s masterpieces, artfully designed to appeal to first-time audiences as well as adults who may have previously written off the Bard. Presented in conjunction with Family Week at the Theatre/The Stages Festival, these performances are an outstanding opportunity for families to share in the fun and excitement of live Shakespeare.

Our newest 75-minute production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be held March 6 at 12:00 p.m. at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre. When starry-eyed young lovers and zany would-be actors cross paths in a magical forest, the result is one of the world’s most uproarious comedies. This raucous production is a thrilling “first Shakespeare” for children as young as age 8, and a riotous roller-coaster ride of a performance for all ages.

The timeless tale of Romeo and Juliet, also in a new 75-minute production, will be presented March 5 at 7:00 p.m. and March 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre. In this thrilling tragedy, two idealistic teens are pitted against their privileged families and a society consumed with senseless hatred and brutality. Romeo and Juliet is a lyrical depiction of young love, as well as a thought-provoking study of the effects of violence and the redeeming power of devotion, recommended for ages 11 and up.

Tickets for each performance are just $12 apiece, with one free child’s ticket (17 and under) offered for each paid adult ticket.
